Chairman for the Referees Assiciation of Ghana, Joe Debrah has urged the Ghana Football Association to hand stiffer punishment to coaches who consistently cricitise referees in the ongoing Ghana Premier Legue.
The 2020/21 Ghana Premier League and the National Division One League have been marred with poor officiating, forcing some coaches who feel being cheated in certain games to pass hasrsh comments on referees.
However, the retired referee who currently heads the Referees mother body feels some of the coaches go overboard and need to be punishment when they comment unpleasntly about matchday officials.
“I do not understand why referees are banned for the rest of the season when they go wrong but clubs and coaches are giving trivial punishment for their wrongdoings” Joe Debrah told GYE NYAME 94.5MHZ
“Occasionally I hear the punishment given to the coaches which is good but I think they should increase it a little because the noise is too much on the airwaves.
“Our coaches credit themselves when they win but tend to blame referees when they lose.” He added.
