TODAY IN HISTORY. 30 years ago : Ghana won the 1991 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Italy

Tuesday August 31st, 2021 is exactly 30 years since Ghana Black Starlets won the 1991 FIFA U-17 World Cup staged in Italy.

Ghana defeated Spain by 1-0 in the grande finale with Emmanuel Duah scoring a 77th minute solitary winner.

“30 years ago today Ghana won the FIFA U-17 World Cup. Flag of Ghana The Black Starlets beat Spain 1-0 in the final at the Artemio Franchi Trophy. Soccer ball Nii Lamptey won the Golden Ball award #U17WC | @ghanafaofficial” FIFA tweeted on Tuesday.

Some of the notable members of this World Cup winning squad of Ghana were Nii Odartey Lamptey who won the overall best player of the tournament, Emmanuel Duah the hero of the final match, Mohammed Gargo, the supremely talented Nana Opoku, Sebastien Barnes, Isaac Asare, Yaw Preko, Mark Edusei and the likes.
