Turkish giant Trabzonspor head coach Abdullah Avcı is furious about the transfer of Ghana’s Black Stars striker Caleb Ekuban.
The former Leeds United man enjoyed a successful spell at the Mauves and Reds side during his two-year stay at the club by becoming one of the most important players for the club.
Before the start of the 2021-22 Turkish Super Lig next weekend, the Ghanaian international forward is reported to have completed his mandatory medical test ahead of his imminent move to Serie A side Genoa.
But his transfer does not sit well with the Turkish Super Lig side coach, who told the Turkish media how furious he was about Ekuban’s transfer away from the club and the timing of it.
“Caleb Ekuban is a player who has served Trabzonspor. He has been beneficial to Trabzonspor. His contract will expire in a year and he left the club by making money. The timing of his transfer was wrong. I said it to Ekuban’s face,” the coach told the Turkish media.
The Ghanaian is reported to be currently in Genoa by Italian news out, FootballItalia to make his deal official in the coming hours or days.
Ekuban scored 10 goals and provided 4 assists in the 2020-21 Super Lig in Turkey, helping Trabzonspor to finish high enough on the table to qualify for this season’s Europa League.
