Tagliaferri shot the African ladies in front in the fifth minute before a thunderous come back from Evans Adortey’s side saw Gifty Acheampong and captain Sandra Owusu Ansah scoring a goal each to pick important three points in the crucial game.

Adizatu Mustapha floated a high, hanging cross from the right and, when the US keeper misjudged it in her attempts to claim, Gifty Acheampong was left with a simple header into an empty net at the back post.

The maidens wrap up their group stage fixture with a game against Paraguay Friday October 7 at the same venue.

A win against Paraguay will see Ghana qualifying the the next phase of the tournament.
