Black Meteors will go head-to-head with host nation Guinea in their final Group A match of the TotalEnergies U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) at the Grand Stade of Tangier on Friday, June 30, 2023.

The Black Meteors, coming off a disappointing 5-1 loss to Morocco in their previous game, enter this match with the urgent need for a victory in order to secure a spot in the tournament’s knockout rounds.

Head Coach Ibrahim Tanko is expected to make some slight changes to the team that faced Morocco on Tuesday. Goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad is anticipated to retain his position between the posts.

In defense, Samuel Ashie Quaye is likely to step in at right-back in place of Aaron Essel, while Edmond Arko Mensah is set to maintain his role at left-back. David Oppong Afrane is expected to remain in the center-back position, with Terry Yegbe making way for Nathaniel Adjei.

In midfield, Ibrahim Tanko is projected to make two changes. Dominic Nsobila is expected to retain his place, and he is likely to be joined by Emmanuel Essiam and Abass Samari Salifu.

The attacking trio is expected to consist of Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, and Ernest Nuamah, as they aim to provide the much-needed firepower upfront.

Ghana’s national team will be giving their all in this crucial match, aiming to secure victory and advance to the next stage of the tournament.

Here’s how the Meteors could line up:

Goalkeeper: Danlad Ibrahim

Defenders: Samuel Ashie Quaye, Ako Mensah, Nathaniel Agyei, David Oppong

Midfielders: Emmanuel Essiam, Abass Samari, Dominic Nsobila

Forwards: Ernest Nuamah, Fatawu Issahaku, Afriyie Barnieh
