In a thrilling Group C encounter at the Africa Cup of Nations 2025, Uganda and Tanzania played out an intense 1-1 draw at Al Medina Stadium on Saturday, 27 December. The match saw late drama, with both teams leaving the field with shared points.
Tanzania initially took the lead through a penalty converted by Simon Msuva, putting the Taifa Stars ahead. Uganda fought back in the dying minutes of the game as Uche Ikpeazu rose to head in a crucial equaliser for the Cranes.
The Ugandan side had a chance to snatch victory in stoppage time, but Allan Okello’s penalty effort narrowly missed, leaving the score locked at 1-1.

The final minutes were tense, with both teams seeking a late winner. Uganda pushed forward, but Tanzania held firm, securing a hard-fought draw. The result leaves both teams with one point each in the group, as they aim to catch up with Nigeria and Tunisia.
