Brazilian attacker Matheus Medeiros De Souza scored his first goal for Asante Kotoko in their Ghana Premier League matchweek 25 meeting with Real Tamale United at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday night.
The 26-year-old forward joined the Ghana Premier League champions in January and had only previously played as a substitute in their 4-0 victory over Accra Lions in February 2023 and started the midweek game against Legon Cities.
Under previous manager Seydou Zerbo, he appeared to be out of favour, but he impressed Gazale and was only substituted in the 76th minute of the match at the El-Wak Stadium.
However, the Brazilian forward Matheus de Souza, who made back to back appearance for the first time in a Kotoko jersey cemented the victory in stoppage time after Augustine Agyapong and Steven Mukwala (brace) had put the Reds in a comfortable lead to push Kotoko higher up the table to fifth place.
The Porcupines have moved to fifth on the league standings, six points below leaders Aduana Stars, while RTU sit 11th on the log.
