Ghana star Mohammed Kudus suffered an injury and walked off the pitch after six minutes into his first appearance in the competition for Ajax Amsterdam on Wednesday night.
Kudus was handed a starting role against Premier League champions, Liverpool and could only play the first six minutes of the big game.
The 20-year old attacker could not continue the game after a clash with Fabinho.
The Ghanaian international was almost teary when the medical team confirmed he needed to be substituted.
Kudus joined Ajax in the summer on a five-year deal from Danish side FC Nordjaeland.
Watch how his senior brother reacted to the unfortunate injury
Sad mood here in Nima where we are watching Ajax's UCL game against Liverpool. They came here for @KudusMohammedGH but will have to sit through the rest of the match watching others play. Kudus' senior brother in the shot close to tears. #3Sports #UCL pic.twitter.com/HLbp1rjxwC
