Accra Great Olympics took on Obuasi Ashantigold SC at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday afternoon for the week eight encounter of the 2020-21 Ghana Premier League.
The visitors started the game on a blistering pace and caused the defense of Olympics a lot of problems in the first ten minutes of the match.
After ten minutes, Olympics upped their game and got their reward when Gladson Awako’s scorcher from 22 yards out found the back of the net on the 15th minute to make it 1-0 to the hosts after a nice work by midfielder Michel Otu.
Olympics were the better side after their goal and dominated the game with some scintillating football on display and had half chances but failed to capitalize on their chances after taking the lead.
On the stroke of half time, a poor defensive header from Ebenezer Sekyere found Isaac Opoku-Agyemang who’s perfect pass found Amos Addai in the box to score the equalizer by beating the goalkeeper at his near post to restore parity before the break with the score level at 1-1 after 45 minutes of action-packed first half.
Right from the break, Ashantigold SC got their second goal in the match through substitute, Yaw Annor on the 47th minute of the match with his second touch after replacing injured Amos Addai to put the visitors 2-1 up.
Olympics pushed forward but could not find the back of the net for the second time in the game as they suffered their first defeat of the season at home.
Ashantigold SC on the other hand grabbed their first away win in four attempts in the 2020-21 Ghana Premier League season after eight weeks.
