Africa’s leading mobile telecommunications giants Vodafone are currently in talks with Asante Kotoko as they hope to outshine their competitors Mobile Telecommunication Network (MTN) as headline sponsors of the Porcupines.
We understand the giant telecommunication company are prepared to offer the most decorated Ghanaian football club a whooping amount every month, an increased figure per the current amount MTN pays Kotoko every month.
According to Myfabulousonline, management of the Porcupines led by Nana Yaw Amponsah are in talks with officials of Vodafone Ghana for a lucrative sponsorship deal.
“We have been in contacts with Kotoko but nothing concrete yet,” a Vodafone insider told Myfabulousonline.com.
“Asante Kotoko is a big brand which deserves to partner giant companies like our firm, no disrespect to the already existing sponsors though. All that I can say now is that we’re in talks with them and we are ready to be part of the big project under their new leadership”
Meanwhile, the management of Asante Kotoko, according to several media reports few weeks ago are engaging their headline sponsors MTN for renegotiation of their sponsorship deal.
MTN’s sponsorship agreement with Kotoko dates back to January 2011 when a deal was signed for an annual amount of GH¢1,050,000.
The company’s relationship and support to Asante Kotoko date back to the period of Spacefon, Areeba to MTN.
Kotoko in past years have had a professional relationship with telecommunication companies through sponsorships. Such Company includes Tigo Ghana and Onetouch which is now Vodafone.
