Assistant coach of the Black Satellites, Fatawu Salifu, has expressed satisfaction with the team’s preparations ahead of the upcoming WAFU Zone B U-20 Cup of Nations, set to kick off in Ghana from July 10 to 23, 2025.
Following the official draw held on Friday, Ghana U20 have been placed in Group A alongside Nigeria and Benin. The Black Satellites will begin their campaign with a highly anticipated clash against long-time rivals Nigeria on July 10 at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, before wrapping up their group stage matches against Benin on July 16.
With only three teams in Group A, each side will play two matches in the group phase.
Speaking to the Ghana FA media, Coach Salifu — formerly of Heart of Lions — shared his thoughts on the team’s progress in camp.
“I think preparation has been so good so far since we returned. Like I said, we are in camp; we train day in, day out just to try to correct the things we did in Egypt and make sure that we are ready for this tournament. So, preparation so far is so good.”
The third edition of the WAFU Zone B U-20 tournament will serve as a crucial platform for Ghana’s rising talents, with the team aiming to reclaim regional dominance and secure a place at the continental level.
As hosts, Ghana will be looking to take full advantage of home support and make a strong statement in front of their fans.
