The semi-final match between rivals, Nigeria and Ghana at the on-going WAFU Zone B women’s tournament will be played at 7pm instead of the initial 4:30pm advertised.
The change was communicated to the team at the Match Co-ordination Meeting held on Wednesday.
On reason was assigned for the change, but is believed that it is intended to draw in the home fans for the Cote d’Ivoire versus Mali, then keep them on for the second game between Nigeria and Ghana.
It will be the first time the Queens will play under floodlights at this competition as they played all their group matches at 4:30pm.
Coach Mercy Tagoe Quarcoo says the change of time will have no effect on her team as they have conditioned themselves for any situation.
“The ladies have all have an experience playing under floodlights, so despite we having not trained under such conditions at this competition, it will have no effect.
“We have prepared well and ready to play be it during the day or in the evening,” Tagoe Quarcoo said at the team’s pre-match press conference.
