Board member of Accra Hearts of Oak Alhaji Akambi Brimah has been strongly admonished by a three-member committee that investigated a bribery allegation against the experienced official of the club.
Some famous supporters of the club most notable Maxwell Asabre and Paa Kofi Sumsum – in April this year – public alleged and petitioned the Hearts of Oak authorities that Akambi has received a cash gift or otherwise bribe from Mr. Kuuku Bartels who was on the verge of transferring a player (Emmanuel Sarkodie) of Nkoranza Warriors to the Phobians.
The three–man committee set up by the Togbe Afede-led board of directors of Hearts of Oak looked into the matter and concluded that there was no corroborative evidence to support the circumstantial evidence brought against Akambi and therefore treated the allegation of bribery as unfounded.
However the investigative committee – chaired by board member of the club Frank Nwokolo Nelson and supported by Frederick Moore the Managing Director of the club and Thomas Kwesi Esso – finished by offering some serious admonishments to the undeerfire Akambi.
A portion of the committee’s report read: ” Alhaji Akambi Brimah should be advised to understand his high office as a board member, to be careful in his dealings on behalf of the club and not to overstep his duty as a board member to protect himself , his colleague board members and the club from negative press”.
