Former Asante Kotoko and Ghana Black Stars striker Wilberforce Mfum has revealed the weary emotions he attracts when watching the current generation of Kotoko players play.
The ex prolific attacker avers as a football player playing for a club of Asante Kotoko’ magnitude, you should get heart bigger enough to carry the club on due to the large spirit behind the team.
According to Mfum, his generation of players then played the best of football thus the current generation comes no near.
“Watching Kotoko players today make me sad. You need a big heart to play for Kotoko because the spirit behind the team is not a small spirit. Most of these current players would not make the bench of the Kotoko team I played in. You call us names as journalist but let me say that our football was better than what you see today. Ask any elderly person and he will tell you we played the better football.” Wilberforce Mfum told Kessben TV.
Wilberforce Mfum played along with great players in the history of Ghana football. Players like Osei Kofi, The famous Baba Yara and GoalKeeper Robert Mensah were his playing mates.
Kotoko on Sunday progressed to round 32 of the ongoing MTN FA cup competition after beating lower tier side Bekwai Youth Football Academy 3-1 on penalties after a 1-1 scoreline of stipulated time.
