The Minister of Youth and Sports in Ghana, Isaac Asiamah is excited with the performance of the Black Starlets despite failing to go past the quarter finals stage of the ongoing Under 17 World Cup in India.
The Black Starlets were defeated 2-1 by their African counterparts Mali in the last eight of the tournament last Saturday.
Nonetheless, Minister of Sports says Coach Paa Kwesi nad his charges need to be commended.
”Some of us are very happy with the performance of the Starlets team because over ten years Ghana have not been able to even qualify for the U17 Fifa world cup and appearing there this time is a plus for the country.” Asiamah told Accra based Atinka FM.
”We did not disgrace ourselves as we were able to make it all the way to quarter finals stage and it is an achievement,”
He added: ”We have to be happy and congratulate the entire team, I believe we can improve upon it in our next competition and work harder to win the trophy next time.”
