Asante Kotoko assistant coach Johnson Smith has said that his team lacked ample rest before their MTN FA Cup game against Asokwa Deportivo on Tuesday afternoon.

The Porcupine Warriors won the Round of 16 game by 2-1 with goals from Fabio Gama and Evans Adomako to reach the quarter-finals of the competition but smith – who was in the dugout due to the suspension of his superior Mariano Barreto – spoke after the match.

“You could see how they run against our players. It is because we came from Kumasi straight to the stadium to play the match and so our players did not get enough rest before the game” Johnson Smit said after the game which was played at the Len Clay stadium in Obuasi.

Asante Kotoko has taken the Cup competition as a priority as they named key players like Razak Abalora, Imoro Ibrahim, Ismail Ganiyu, Fabio Gama and co in the starting line-up as they seek to win the competition to earn a ticket to play in Africa next season.
