Having been frozen out of the senior national team squad for more than a year now, the duo have finally been recalled for national assignments.
Black Stars goalkeepers’ trainer Richard Kingston has slammed critics over Ayew brothers latest call-ups into the senior national team, stating their invitation has nothing to do with pressure on the technical handlers as suggested by Ghanaians upon their roster.
Jordan and Andre Ayew have both been in splendid form for their respective clubs in the ongoing 2018/2019 top-flight campaigns.
However, both were sidelined for national team duties by Coach Kwesi Appiah having last featured in the World Cup qualifying match against Congo in September last year in Kumasi.
The sons of the three-time African Footballer of the Year, Abedi Pele Ayew, are now back into the team’s fold and has left many questioning the rationale behind their invite.
That notwithstanding, a member of the technical staff feels the duo now deserve a recall into the squad and that has nothing to do with any external pressure being imposed on them in doing so as purported by some quarters.
“We [Black Stars technical handlers] don’t invite Players base on what People Say. We have a criteria of inviting players to the National Team and I think this time they [Jordan and Andre Ayew] deserve this call-ups, “Kingston told Kumasi-based Hello FM
He added: “l am happy Dede And Jordan are back into the Black Stars and I personally believe they deserve to be in the National Team and I am hoping they put up a good performance to raise the image of the team.”
