He replaces Avram Grant who left the Black Stars job after a disastrous 2017 AFCON campaign in Gabon.

Mr. Afriyie in a response to what has changed in Kwesi Appiah since he left the team in 2014 stressed ‘’What has changed is that it’s been three years since he left, since he left the face of the team has change and things have also not been the same’’.

”let me make this point clear I have heard some of you the journalists say Kwesi Appiah was sacked by the Ghana Football Association after the country’s 2014 worldcup debacle which isn’t the case. The truth of the matter is the FA had a press conference with he[Kwesi Appiah at the Alisa Hotel after the mundial and told him we had fate in him and even renewed his contract so i feed bad when I hear them make such false reports”

He however called on Ghanaians to give the former Asante Kotoko captain their full backing to enable him deliver within the two-year term given him.
