The former Ghana captain says his team kept ‘dropping and dropping’ in the second half after his substitution went the other way round.
The Black Stars suffered a 1-0 to the Bafana Bafana of South Africa on Monday in matchday two of the FIFA 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
Bongokuhle Hlongwane’s second half strike was all that Hugo Broos’ needed to secure all three points in the game.
Speaking after the game, the former Ghana International said: “Well, we started very well in the first half tactically we were very disciplined. It went the way we want it and we were not clinical upfront, that’s the problem. But I was satisfied with the way we played in terms of controlling the game.”
“In the second half, we somehow lost the midfield in terms of how we want to play because we believed that we could win the game.
“We did one or two substitutions, which really went the other way round and we kept dropping and dropping.” Akonnor added.
The Black Stars will next play Zimbabwe on 6th October, 2021 at the Cape Coast Stadium.
