Asante Kotoko head coach Charles Kwablan Akunnor has attributed his team’s Caf Confederation Cup 3-1 defeat to Nkana FC on Sunday afternoon to ‘defensive errors’
The porcupine Warriors suffered their second defeat in the competition and Akonnor in a disappointing manner and says the Ghanaian giants would have at least left Zambia with a fine result had it not been the avoidable ”errors” his boys committed in defense.
Defender Abdul Ganiu Ismail brought down forward Walter Bwalya inside the box and Freddy Tshimenga brilliantly converted it to put his side in front.
Striker Songné Yacouba drew the Porcupine Warriors level with a superb free-kick two minutes later.
Ronald “Sate Sate” Kampamba restored the lead for the Nkana FC three minutes later after connecting a headed pass from Bwalya.
Kampamba increased the tally to 3-1 for the home side in the 53rd minute after heading home a Gift Zulu cross.
Speaking to the press after the game, the former Ghana captain expressed worry about how his defenders kept committing ”lot of defensive errors that proved costly” during the game.
‘’We lost today’s game because my team made a lot of defensive errors that proved costly. Nkana made a lot of good crosses in the box that we failed to contain.’’ Akonnor told reporters after the game.
The Zambian giants now lead the group with 6 points and will be traveling to Kumasi to tackle Asante Kotoko in their next fixture on 3rd match 2019.
