Black Stars deputy captain Andre Ayew has admitted that they lost to a better side in their 2017 Africa Cup of Nations semifinal defeat to Cameroon on Thursday.
The Stars failed to replicate the last edition feat where they got to the finals in Equatorial Guinea.
Andre Ayew who had a quiet game, believes the Indomitable Lions succeeded in limiting the Black Stars from playing their game hence emerged deserved winners.
“I’m very disappointed because we did not play our game. We did not manage to do what we know how to do best,” the West Ham United player said after the match.
“We have to be honest Cameroon deserve the victory today. We did not do what we had to do; there’s not much to say.”
“We have to go home and prepare for next two years. Always when you are playing for your country, there’s motivation. We know that our priority was to go to the final.”he added.
Cameroon scored twice in the second half to secure their first final ticket since the 2008 Afcon at the expense of Ghana.
Avram Grant’s men will battle with Burkina Faso for the bronze medal in Port-Gentil on Saturday.
