President of the Ghana Olympic Committee Ben Nunoo Mensah says most disciplines are not ready for next year’s Commonwealth Games.
Ghana has only 362 days to produce athletes who will represent the country at the multi-sports event.
Ghana’s record at the Games is not encouraging having won only 51 medals after 15 appearance at the competition.
Ben Nunoo Mensah is therefore calling on the various Federations Heads to work harder.
“We have only 365 days to go but i can see that most of our athletes are not ready”
“We need to work very hard to put our athletes in good shape for them to make it to the games so that we can get as many of our athletes to qualify ”
“We should rather focus on quality rather than quantity because if we send over 200 athletes and get 5 medals while we can send just 20 athletes and get over 10 medals then i think that is what should be our focus and that is quality”he added.
