Italian Serie A outfit Cagliari Calcio coach Walter Mazzarri has revealed that Ghanaian wonder-kid Felix Ohene Afena Gyan was the game changer in his team’s 2-1 home defeat to AS Roma on Wednesday night.
Afena-Gyan was introduced to the game in the second half of the match for his debut when the Giallorossi were trailing by a lone goal.
The 18-year-old versatile forward was a thorn in the flesh of the Cagliari defense causing a lot of havoc in and around the penalty area.
“We were playing great but then that Felix Afena came in, I didn’t know him, I had prepared myself for Shomurodov, and he blew us away,” Mazzarri said in his post-match.
Roma equalized through Roger Ibanez and captain Lorenzo Pellegrini drilled in a superb free-kick for the match winner.
Afena-Gyan scored six goals in the Italian Primavera before he was given a chance with the senior side.
