Legon Cities FC head coach Maxwell Konadu has reacted to his team’s 3-2 victory over Real Tamale United on Saturday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The former Asante Kotoko coach and his charges have had a good start to the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League, having picked four points out of a possible six points in their first two opening games.
The Royals recorded their first win of the season after drawing goalless in the opening game of the 2021-22 against Accra Hearts of Oak SC.
Defender Joseph Adjei scored the opening goal of the match on the 22nd minute mark to make it 1-0 to the home team.
Former AshantiGold SC midfielder David Abagna Sandan equalized seven minutes later to make sure Honours was shared at the break.
Nathaniel Acquah restored the home team’s lead nine minutes after the break before Jonah Attuquaye scored from the spot to make it 3-1 with 18 minutes to go.
Abagna grabbed his brace five minutes later from the spot but his strike was not enough to salvage a point for the Premier League returnees.
Legon Cities FC are unbeaten in two games with four points while RTU are without a win.
“RTU played so well. They gave a good fight. They played the first half and we played the second half,” said Maxwell Konadu.
“They dominated well in midfield. We studied their play and we did some changes to stabilize things.
“We will keep pushing and make sure we gain more points going forward. We have an important target set before the season started. We will give our best to achieve it.”
“Accra is full of Northerners, so I wasn’t surprised to hear the loud noise from the RTU fans.”
“Once we keep winning games, we expect more of our fans to be here and cheer us up.” he concluded.
Legon Cities held defending Champions Hearts of Oak to a goalless draw at the Accra Sports Stadium in their season opener.
