Black Stars Captain Asamoah Gyan has said that he and his teammates want revenge over the Pharaohs of Egypt when the two sides clash in the 2017 African Cup of Nations on Wednesday.
The two teams will meet in the final round of the group stage as Ghana sit on top of Group D and aims to cement their position.
The Seven times African Champions defeated the Black Stars in two vital matches, one in the 2010 African Cup of Nations final match as The Pharaohs snatched the title and the second match was last year during the World Cup qualifiers reducing their chances to qualify for the fourth consecutive time to the FIFA World Cup.
“We must win against Egypt. As much as we want to keep our 100% winning record, we also want to avenge the defeat,” he said in a pre-match press conference. “You remember we lost to Egypt in the finals of the 2010 AFCON in Angola, we also lost to them last year in a World Cup qualifier, so the game is very important to us and we must win.” said Gyan
The 2010 BBC African Footballer of the Year echoed what Avram Grant spoke about earlier regarding the match. Ghana needs to win this match to finish on top of the table with nine points.
