‘We’re sorry for letting you down, we can’t win the league’ – Aduana Stars to Dormaahene and club’s supporters

Evans Oppong, the Communications Director of Aduana Stars, a Ghana Premier League club, has issued an apology to the club’s supporters and Dormaahene, Osagyefo Agyemang Badu I, acknowledging that their team will not be able to clinch the betPawa Ghana Premier League title for the 2022/23 season, with two games remaining.

Aduana Stars suffered a major setback to their title aspirations after a crushing 3-0 defeat at the hands of Accra Lions in their matchweek 31 fixture. As a result, they slipped to second place in the league standings, with Medeama taking the top spot after a convincing 5-1 victory over Hearts of Oak in Accra on Sunday.

“We (Aduana Stars) have nothing to say except to shift our focus to the next season and offer our apologies to the Aduana family, especially the Dormaahene and supporters, as we have let them down,” expressed Oppong as quoted by Happyghana.com.

He further expressed disappointment at the team’s inability to live up to the expectations despite the preparations and efforts made by the club and its supporters to secure the league title.

Oppong acknowledged that Aduana Stars should shoulder the blame for relinquishing their position at the top of the league. While they managed to accumulate points against formidable opponents in the league, they struggled to replicate the same success against lower-ranked teams. He stressed the need for the team to address these issues and reflected on their inconsistent season.

“We (Aduana Stars) have nothing to say than move our concentration to the next season and also apologize to the Aduana family especially the Dormaahene and supporters because we have let them down. Looking at the preparations and efforts they put in place to enable the team to win the Premier League title, it is really a disappointment,”.

”We need to accept the blame for losing the top spot in the league. We managed to amass points from the big guns in the league but when it mattered most, we struggled to do the same against the lower teams. These are questions we need to answer ourselves. Aduana Stars have had a really very inconsistent season” he added.

Oppong also criticized the fixture arrangement for the current season, suggesting that Aduana Stars had been unfairly treated in that regard.

Meanwhile, Aduana Stars will return to Dormaa to host Dreams FC in their upcoming game and will be hoping that Medeama drops points when they face King Faisal in the following weekend.
