Former Black Stars midfielder Nii Odartey Lamptey says the nation has a lost a gem in Coach Sam Arday who died on Sunday after a shot illness in Accra.
The Celebrated coach who is credited for the multi-system died in Accra aged 71. He was the first Coach to win an Olympic medal in football when he led Ghana’s U23 team to pick bronze at the 1992 Games in Barcelona.
He also won the 1995 FIFA U17 World Cup winner in Ecuador. He handled many clubs in the local league including Asante Kotoko, Hearts of Oak and Okwahu United.
Nii Odartey Lamptey who worked under Coach Arday in Barcelona in 1992 has described the demise of the coach as a huge blow to the nation.
“Coach Arday was like a father to me because he has really helped me during my playing career so he was my everything”.
“Ghana football we have really lost a legend because these are the people that ewe guys are learning from its so sad”he told Starr Sports.
