Joseph Paintsil was substituted in the 46th minute for skipper Andre Ayew much to the surprise of everyone watching the game in Ghana’a embarrassing  2-2 draw against Mozambique.

Paintsil won Ghana a penalty in the 14th minute after Nanani had brought down the Ghanaian pacy winger with a strong Challenge.

Jordan Ayew beautifully converted the spot kick in the 15th minute to give Ghana the needed first goal. Joseph Paintsil was tormenting the left-hand side of Mozambique’s defence with Langa, Mandava and Nanani struggling to contain his pace. The first half ended with Ghana leading by a lone goal.

Lo and behold, Andrew Ayew replaced the tricky and pacey Paintsil in the 46th minute as the decision made by Chris Houghton was difficult to comprehend. When the press pressed Houghton for explanations, the Irish manager said he substituted Paintsil because of fatigue.

Joseph Paintsil when asked by a journalist whether he was fatigued or not, the forward retorted, ” What fatigue?” signalling his disappointment with Chris Houghton.

Ghana now has no control over their fate as it will be difficult for the Black Stars to secure qualification with two points.

Ghana surrendered a 2 goal lead against Mozambique all because of Chris Houghton’s decisions.
