In the Second Round, the team of Herbet Addo won in Bamako by 2-1 over Djoliba AC thanks to goals of Gilbert Fiamenyo and Paul Acquah before losing the reverse game in Accra by 1-0 to make it to the play-off round.
The play-off round threw heavyweights Esperance in the way of the Ghanaian side and the aggregate score line showed the difference in quality between the two teams. The Tunisians thrashed Hearts of Oak 4-0 in Tunis before coming down to Accra to leave with a 1-1 result.
