Spanish UEFA Pro License coach and former Black Stars video analyst, Gerald Nus has spoken about Ghanaian leader Nana Akufo-Addo’s proposed $25m to be injected to the Ghana national team to win the Africa Cup of Nations next year as well as making 2020 World Cup semi-final.
According to him he understands the President’s desire to win an AFCON trophy because Ghana is a great footballing nation.
“The president of the country needs the AFCON trophy because Football means a lot for Ghanaians”,he said.
He also acknowledged that money is very essential to the success of teams but that alone cannot help a team to win trophies because players must show anger and desire before they can chalk success at tournaments and that’s the most important thing.
“Financial support are needed though, but it’s not always about money.”
“You need to have the basics, minimum to have good training and preparations.”
“The most important thing is the desire from the players to go to the tournament and give out %100 performance.”
“For that, I don’t want to channel it to monitory issues only.”
“Money is always on the minds of people when we talk about football, not only in Ghana but in Africa as a whole.”
“Let have players with the desire and real identity to fight and they can win”, he concluded.
