Asante Kotoko striker Albert Amoah has reignited the race for the Ghana Premier League Golden Boot after netting a sensational hat-trick in Kotoko’s 3-1 win over Medeama SC on Sunday at the Baba Yara Stadium.
The 21-year-old forward was in unstoppable form, scoring all three goals for the Porcupine Warriors to take his season tally to 12—just three behind current top scorer Stephen Amankona of Berekum Chelsea, who has 15.
Medeama took an early lead, but Amoah pulled Kotoko level in the 23rd minute from the penalty spot. He added a second with a well-timed header at the near post in the 40th minute to put his side ahead before sealing the win with another powerful header in the 79th minute.
The hat-trick is Amoah’s second of the season, following a similar performance earlier in the campaign against Great Olympics.
Speaking after the match, the in-form striker expressed confidence in his ability to challenge for the top scorer award.
“It’s not too late—everything is possible,” Amoah said. “I scored a hat-trick at Accra Great Olympics, and today too. So now I have two hat-trick balls at home.”
With Kotoko set to face Vision FC in their final league game of the season, Amoah remains a player to watch as he looks to close the gap and potentially snatch the Golden Boot on the final day.
