Black Stars head coach Charles Kwablah Akonnor says he enjoyed working with his former boss Kwasi Appiah.
Akonnor who was assistant to the 2014 World Cup coach took over from him after the Ghana FA failed to offer him a fresh deal after the expiration of his contract on 31st December 2019.
The former Asante Kotoko gaffer deputized Appiah when Ghana beat South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations double-header qualifiers.
According to him, Kwasi Appiah gave him the opportunity to work with the senior national team and that he will forever respect him for that.
”Working with Kwasi Appiah was good. He gave me the opportunity and I will forever respect him. He is a gentleman,” Akonnor told Bola Ray on Starr Chat.
Akonnor’s debut game as Black Stars coach which was against Sudan in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier had to be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
