The Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Professor Peter Twumasi, on Monday 4th January 2021, inspected and monitored construction and renovation works at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
According to Prof. Peter Twumasi, the drainage systems have been completed to enable the commencement of grassing on Wednesday.
Again, 40,500 seats have been fixed in place of the damaged ones. Also, the floodlight and the scoreboard have all been installed at the facility.
The Baba Yara Sports Stadium was closed down last year in February prior to the Independence Celebration in March. Since the 2008 AFCON, the facility has never been renovated.
The construction and renovation works were slated to be completed at last year but was delayed due to COVID-19. The contractors received all the materials needed in October after the lockdown was lifted by the government.
