Asamoah Gyan, the former Black Stars captain, has expressed heartfelt admiration for his former teammate, Samuel Inkoom, praising his unwavering dedication and selfless service.
Speaking at the launch of the partnership between the Samuel Inkoom Football Management Agency (SIFMA) and HK-Invest, Gyan reminisced about their bond and highlighted Inkoom’s remarkable journey.
Reflecting on their early days, Gyan shared a poignant memory of Inkoom’s act of service during their time together at an academy in Winneba. Recalling how Inkoom voluntarily assisted him, Gyan emphasized Inkoom’s humility, commitment, and industrious nature, which have remained constant throughout their friendship.
“During my time at acadamicals, I saw him in Winneba. He was one of the academy boys. He saw something in me and even started washing my stuff for me at the age of 14. When he came to the national team he tried to remind me and I said ‘You were that boy?’. So he has always been humble, committed and hard-working,” he said.
Moreover, Gyan lauded Inkoom’s efforts to nurture talent in Ghana, citing it as a driving force behind his support for the initiative. Expressing his eagerness to contribute to the success of the younger generation, Gyan affirmed his solidarity with Inkoom’s mission to empower aspiring footballers.
“I’m here to support Samuel because I like to give back (to society). That’s what we want. We want to help the younger generation to succeed, so when I see an initiative like this, I always want to support it.”
“He’s been a brother to me and has been very supportive of me. Every event I do, he supports but I’m not looking at that. It is the fact that he is helping these young ones to have a life, so why not?”
