Record holders and Southern Zone leaders Hasaacas Ladies travel to Army Ladies after dropping points at home against Berry Ladies.

Faith Ladies, who suffered their first defeat of the season to Jonina Ladies, travel to Police Ladies hoping to get back to winning ways.

Here is what to expect in the Southern Zone of the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League:

SOCCER INTELLECTUALS VRS ESSIAM SOCRATES

Soccer Intellectuals welcome Essiam Socrates in week 14 of the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League. The game is anticipated to be fiercely contested as the two sides’ battle for survival. The Ajumako Enyan Essiam District derby brings together two sides who have struggled to find their feet all season. Preceding this encounter, Essiam Socrates boasts two wins on the spin after beating Berry Ladies 2:0 on the road and a 1-0 win over Army Ladies at home. In the last two games, Soccer Intellectuals have huffed and puffed in their last two games following a home loss to Faith Ladies and a draw against bottom placed Sea Lions at the Nduom Stadium. Essiam Socrates are 8th on the log with 14 points, one point better than Soccer Intellectuals who are second from bottom. Giving the above statistics, Socrates Ladies will start as favourites but matches between the two are highly unpredictable and the pendulum could swing either way.

JONINA LADIES VRS SEA LIONS

Jonina Ladies will take on bottom placed Sea Lions at the Auntie Aku Park. Jonina are coming off a 1-0 victory over second-placed Faith Ladies, while Sea Lions managed a 0-0 draw against Soccer Intellectuals in their last outing. The two newcomers are aiming to survive this season’s challenge as they lie in 6th and 10th positions with 9 points separating them. Jonina Ladies have been the better side and would hope to get the points to cement their position in the top half of the table as they deepen the woes of their visitors who made a return to the topflight this season after suffering relegation in the 2021/22 season.

ARMY LADIES VRS HASAACAS LADIES

Army Ladies will face Hasaacas Ladies in a cagey encounter at the MAT’s Park after losing 1-0 to Essiam Socrates on Matchday 13. The ‘dooo ladies’ have picked only one point from their last two games and would look to get the maximum points against a tougher opponent to extend their lead at the top. Army Ladies having dropped points along the line would go into this fixture looking to get the three points to cement their position at the top half of the table. Meetings between these teams are always unpredictable due to the intense nature of their games.

LADYSTRIKERS VRS BERRY LADIES

Ladystrikers return to the Robert Mensah Stadium as they wrestle with Berry Ladies in another fierce battle. Ladystrikers returned from the break with a home win over the Hasaacas Ladies Ladies but lost on the road over the weekend. Berry Ladies on the other hand are just one point above their host on the log after salvaging a point from their clash against Hasaacas at the Sekondi Gyandu Park last weekend. Ladystrikers will seek to triumph over their visitors counting on their strong attack led by Mariam Olawumi Abdulkabir but the Berries are well motivated with the draw they picked on the road against Hasaacas.

POLICE LADIES VRS FAITH LADIES

Police Ladies will soldier on in the top four race as they host Faith Ladies on Match day 14 of the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League. Police Ladies who have been inconsistent in the campaign following their 1-1 draw against LadyStrikers last week, will thrive to acquire all 3 points at the Alajo Astroturf when they host second placed Faith Ladies. On the other hand Faith Ladies will aim to restore some pride following last weekend’s loss to Jonina Ladies.

A win for the home team will see them ladder up away from the bottom of the league table whilst the visitors aim to win to continue to breathe down the neck of leaders Hasaacas Ladies.
