The Youth employment Agency together with the Youth and sports ministry, and the national sports authority will on Wednesday sign an agreement for the youth in elite sports for Ghana programme which seeks to remunerate athletes for the next six months.
Five hundred individuals have been earmarked as beneficiaries which is made up of 30 registered players each from the 16 Women’s Premier League clubs and 20 other persons in the league.
Each person will be paid five hundred Ghana cedis as a monthly allowance beginning this month.
Speaking to Starr Sports, Director of communications at the Youth Employment Agency Emmanuel Kwesi Afriyie said the roll out to aid these athletes will involve several of the various sporting disciplines.
“The YEA board is currently having series of meetings with not just the FA president , but with the sports minister himself, the Ghana Olympic committee, Women’s football representative and every sports Association in Ghana ”Afriyie told Starr Sports
“We are hoping that the initial plan of role out will be out so that everybody in the sports fraternity will know when and how we are coming to each of them” he added.
