South African fans have taken to social media to troll Ghanaians following the Black Stars’ shocking 1-0 defeat to Angola in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier on Thursday.

One South African fan commented under a post by Sportsworldghana.com, stating, “You will suffer till Jesus comes back, you once cheated South Africa, and now you are paying the price.”

This comment reflects the ongoing tension between the two nations, stemming from Ghana’s controversial victory over South Africa during the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. A penalty goal in that match saw Ghana advance, leaving South African fans disgruntled.

In Thursday’s game at the Baba Yara Stadium, the Black Stars were undone by a late goal from Milson. The Angolan forward capitalized on a failed clearance by Ghanaian defender Abdul Mumin, tapping the ball into an empty net to secure all three points for the Palancas Negras.

Ghana will now turn its focus to their next AFCON qualifier against Niger on Monday, September 9, in Morocco, as they seek to bounce back from the disappointing opener.
