Dutch Eredivisie giant AFC Ajax Amsterdam have refused to release Ghana’s star and playmaker Mohammed Kudus for the up acompañar tournament, Sportsworldghana.com can confirm.
The club announced their team for the training camp in Portugal ahead of the second round of the 2021-22 Eredivisie season which included the Ghanaian sensation.
According to Ajax, Kudus falls from one injury to another injury and is far from being fit for a series of tough matches.
Ajax also believes the player must first get back to his normal level and thinks he can use the training camp in Portugal for that.
With this development, the 20-year-old Ghanaian versatile player will not go to the Africa Cup of Nations tournament this month which kick-start on January 9.
Kudus picked a rib injury on international duty in Ghana’s final game in the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against South Africa in Cape Coast in November.
Ghana will play Morocco in their first game of the 33rd CAF Africa Cup of Nations tournament on January 10 but will battle African champions, Algeria in a friendly on Wednesday.
