Four time winners of the African Cup of Nations, Ghana is already playing her first most crucial game of this 33rd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
Defeated by Morocco on the opening day of the tournament, the Black Stars need to win against the Panthers of Gabon on Friday night to brighten their Round of 16 chances.
A draw for Gabon and a Morocco win or draw against Comoros will still put Morocco and Gabon (1-0 winners over Comoros) ahead of the Group as the automatic teams to qualify to the next stage. Therefore Friday’s encounter with the team of Pierre- Emerick Aubameyang, Aaron Boupendza and co is a must win for Milovan Rajevac and his charges.
Meanwhile Gabon will have the chance to win two consecutive African Cup of Nations matches for the first time since January 2012.
Ghana have won only one of their last five Africa Cup of Nations group stage matches (2 draws, 2 losses), losing more in this series (2) than in their previous 12 matches of this type combined (9 wins, 2 draws, 1 loss).
It should be added that there are four places for the four best third-placed teams of the group stages but the Black Stars will not want to reduce their chances to this Round of 16 route.
Mistakes are forbidden today, the Black Stars.
