Club Brugge defender Denis Odoi is in awe following his Black Stars call up for the impending play off with Nigeria.
Odoi who previously played for Fulham insists he is in a dreamland as he thought he was not in the plans of the West African country.
“I was a little surprised. These are essential matches. I could even take part in the next World Cup,” he told Het Laatste Nieuws.
“It took so long that at first I thought they didn’t want me anymore,”
“Do I feel Ghanaian? No, of course I am Belgian, but my father is from Ghana, so it is part of my identity. I am proud to join the national team.” He added.
Odoi is primarily a right-back back can also operate any where across the back four and as a defensive midfielder.
The 33-year-old defender has made seven Pro Jupiler League appearances this season scoring one goal.
