Former Black Stars goalkeeper, Fatau Dauda has commended the performance of Daniel Amartey and Alexander Djiku during Ghana’s playoff clash against Nigeria in the qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The Leicester City and Racing Strasbourg defenders featured in both legs of the playoff tie and managed to help Ghana to secure qualification to this year’s mundial.
Speaking to Angel TV in an interview today, Fatau Dauda named the two centre-backs as his standout performers in the playoff.
“My standout players in this World Cup playoffs. Our two centre-backs Amartey and Djiku. They really impressed me with their understanding and confidence. Marking out such good attackers and playing from the back even under extreme pressure,” the experienced shot-stopper said.
Having qualified for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Ghana has been pitted in Group H where the Black Stars will compete with Portugal, Uruguay, as well as South Korea.
