Egypt national team goalkeeper, Mohamed Abou-Gabal, says that they need to beat Senegal to prove that they were deserving of the AFCON title.
After beating them 1-0 in the first leg, Egypt will now visit Senegal to play the second game of the playoff round of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
The game is scheduled to take place tomorrow, Tuesday, 29 March in Dakar at 7pm Cairo local time.
Both sides face each other nearly two months after Senegal beat Egypt in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final and Abou-Gabal says it’s their chance to prove they’re the better team.
“It is a difficult feeling to reach the final of the Africa Cup of Nations and lose in the end. It’s a football match and we learned a lot from it,” Abou-Gabal said in pre-match press conference.

“We are playing against Senegal again in the World Cup qualifiers, and we should have a strong reaction after losing to them in the AFCON final, and this has already happened in Egypt.
“The second leg will be difficult for the two teams, and god willing, we can qualify for the World Cup to prove to the entire continent that we were the deserving champions. And then hopefully we can perform well in the World Cup,” he concluded.
