West Ham United manager David Moyes has said that the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations will be a massive blow for the Hammers with Ghana star Mohammed Kudus and others expected to leave for the competition.
Moyes’ side would be without the Ghanaian midfielder as well as Said Benrahma and Nayef Aguerd for the continent’s biggest football tournament next month with Ghana, Algeria and Morocco securing qualification.
The three players are currently integral squad members to Moyes’ with the Ghanaian being involved in seven goals in 17 games.
According to Moyes, the team will have to manage without the trio though it would be disappointing to lose them.
“We’ve got Mo Kudus, and we’ve also got Saïd Benrahma from Algeria and Nayef Aguerd from Morocco,” he said.
“The disappointing bit, and the thing we’ll need to manage, is losing those players for a month during the African Cup of Nations. But that’s part of it.
West Ham will play as guest to North London-based side Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday night in the English Premiership.
