Angola, aiming for their first semi-final appearance, started brightly but faced an early setback as Stanley Nwabali thwarted Mabululu’s close-range attempt in the fourth minute.
Nigeria took control in the 41st minute when Simon evaded Kialonda Gaspar’s challenge and provided a perfect pass for Lookman to score into the net’s top corner. Angola nearly responded around the hour mark, with Zine’s shot hitting the post after receiving Show’s throughball.
Despite Victor Osimhen’s disallowed header due to offside, confirmed by VAR, Nigeria successfully defended their lead, securing a spot in the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations.
