Brighton and Hove Albion star Tariq Lamptey has wished the Black Stars good luck ahead of next month’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar.
The right-back was left out of the 24-man squad released by head coach Chris Hughton on Tuesday afternoon through the Ghana Football Association due to injury.
The player has not featured for the national team since the World Cup and pulled out of the game against Angola in March due to his recovery not going to plan.
Speaking during his donation at Asamankese earlier on Tuesday, where he got to know the squad was named, Tariq wished the team well.
“I am just currently working hard to get back to full fitness,” he told the media.
“Hopefully I can help the boys [in future] but good luck to them in the next few games.”
Tariq’s season ended prematurely after suffering an injury in Brighton’s 4-0 win over West Ham United in the Premier League.
