Desiree Ellis, the coach of the South African senior women’s national team, Banyana Banyana, continues to etch her name into the rich history of African football.

Leading South Africa to their first-ever TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations and second FIFA Women’s World Cup appearance, she retains the CAF Women’s Coach of the Year accolade, marking her consecutive wins in 2018, 2019, and 2022.

With tactical acumen and an enduring dominance, Ellis stands as the sole recipient of the CAF Women’s Coach of the Year award, a testament to her continuous improvement over the years.

Nominated alongside Reynald Pedros of Morocco and compatriot Jerry Tshabalala, who secured his second CAF Women’s Champions League title with Mamelodi Sundowns in Cote d’Ivoire, Ellis’s achievements set her apart in the realm of women’s football coaching.
