Black Galaxies skipper Gladson Awako says the team is keen to perform well at the 2023 CHAN tournament to ensure Ghanaians do not revisit the Black Stars’ performance at the World Cup.
Ghana is participating in the competition for the first time since their 2014 silver-medal performance in their previous trip.
After departing their training camp in Egypt, Annor Walker’s team has been continuing their preparation in Algiers in front of the competition.
Awako claims that the team is eager to succeed at the CHAN competition so Ghanaians can forget about the team’s performance at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
“We are calm and relaxed,” he said in an interview with the GFA.
“We are just waiting for the day to get on the pitch and make sure we make our nation proud and each and everyone out there; make everyone proud and clean all the wrongs that happened and whatever that didn’t go well at the World Cup. We will make sure to put smiles on the faces of Ghanaians.”
The 2023 CHAN tournament is scheduled to start on January 13.
