Asante Kotoko heads to Crosby Awuah Memorial Park in Aiyinase on Sunday to face the newly promoted Basake Holy Stars in what promises to be an intense Ghana Premier League matchup.
Basake Holy Stars recently snapped a three-game losing streak with a narrow 1-0 victory over Karela United in Week 6, but they couldn’t maintain the momentum, falling 2-0 to Nsoatreman FC last weekend.
Currently sitting in 13th place with 7 points, Holy Stars have scored just 3 goals while conceding 6. Their record so far stands at two wins, one draw, and four losses.
Asante Kotoko, on the other hand, travels to Aiyinase with three consecutive wins, including a 1-0 victory over defending champions FC Samartex 1996. With 14 points from four wins and two draws, the Porcupine Warriors have scored six goals and conceded only two. Kotoko also holds one game in hand, set against last-placed Legon Cities.
This will mark the first league encounter between Basake Holy Stars and Asante Kotoko, as Holy Stars enter the top flight this season.
