Asante Kotoko will hope to get back to winning ways when they entertain Legon Cities at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday March 9, 2025.
Kotoko have slipped to the second position in the league table after suffering a disappointing 1-0 defeat at Nsoatreman FC in their last league fixture (W3, D1, L1). They’ve amassed 34 points in 19 league matches, having scored the second most goals (21) and conceded 13.
The Porcupine Warriors are the fourth best home performers in the league. Dr. Prosper Nartey Ogum’s men go into the game with four consecutive home victories and will be keen to secure their fifth successive home win on Sunday.
Struggling Legon Cities suffered their tenth defeat in the league this season at Medeama SC last time out. The Royals still remain in the drop Zone (17th) after match day 19 with 17 points. They’ve won 2 and lost 3 in the last five outings, having scored 14 and conceded the most goals (26). Cities are the weakest away performers and are among the three clubs yet to record victory away from home this season. They will be eager to snatch their first away win on Sunday.
Asante Kotoko have played Legon Cities four times at home in the league since 2020/21 season with the Porcupine Warriors winning two, drawing one and losing one.
In the 2020/21 season, Kotoko beat Legon Cities 1-0, lost 1-3 in the 2021/22 season, drawn 1-1 in the 2022/23 season and recorded a 2-0 victory in the 2023/24.
