Young Apostles FC were held to a 0-0 draw by a determined Legon Cities side in their Matchweek 26 clash of the Ghana Premier League on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at the Nana Abrefah Nketiah VII Park in Wenchi.
In a match that stretched to a staggering 105 minutes in the second half, both teams failed to find the back of the net in what turned out to be a tense and scrappy contest. The unusually extended added time suggested there were lengthy stoppages or disruptions that marred the game’s rhythm.
Young Apostles, with their strong home form, dominated possession and created the better chances but were repeatedly thwarted by a combination of wasteful finishing and a solid goalkeeping display from Legon Cities.
The visitors, who arrived in Wenchi burdened by a run of ten straight away defeats, showed greater defensive discipline and resilience. Their compact shape and committed defending, especially in the latter stages, frustrated the hosts and helped them grind out a hard-earned point.
While Young Apostles remain unbeaten in their last seven home matches, the stalemate will be seen as a missed opportunity, particularly given their superiority in play and the poor away record of their opponents.
For Legon Cities, the result brings a rare positive from a difficult run on the road, and although they posed little threat going forward, the clean sheet and end to their away losing streak offers a platform to build on.
A game of missed chances for Apostles, and dogged resistance from Cities, as both sides leave Wenchi with a point apiece.
